Welcome from the Head
Welcome to Poulton-le-Sands C.E. Primary School website!
We have tried to create a website that will give you a snapshot of our school life whether you are currently involved with us as a parent or child or whether you are a prospective parent or pupil in the process of choosing the right school for you.
The school was founded in 1745 by the Will of Francis Bowes, village blacksmith of Poulton-le-Sands, who also provided for the building of a small chapel in the village, the chapel being the fore-runner of Morecambe Parish Church. The school was administered and governed by a Board of Trustess, also established by the Founder’s Will. This Board still retains control of some funds available to the Governors.
The school now has Church of England Aided status. Its immediate control is vested in a Board of Governors of 14. Eight represent church interests, one represents the Lancashire Education Authority and one represents the Lancaster City Council. Also represented are the parents, teachers, non-teaching staff and Headteacher. The Governors are responsible for the School Budget which has to cover all major areas of finance. The Lancashire Education Authority also retains some financial responsibility.
We currently have 201 children on role in seven single age classes. The links on the website will give you more information about the activities the children get up to and our newsletter will give you information about events in school. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum with themed weeks, after school clubs and productions. We encourage educational visits out of school and visitors into school. We have close links with the clergy of Morecambe Parish Church and the whole school visit once a week.
We hope you enjoy exploring our website and if you would like to know more please contact school, we will be happy to arrange a tour and help further.
