At Poulton, we have developed a bespoke History curriculum that is carefully aligned with the National Curriculum and designed to give pupils a coherent understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Our curriculum is enriched by strong links to our local area, which is rich in history and provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to explore the past within a familiar context.

We encourage children to be curious historians who ask thoughtful questions, think critically about evidence and develop their own informed opinions. Through engaging lessons, enquiry-based learning, and a range of sources and experiences, pupils build their chronological understanding, deepen their historical knowledge, and gain a clear sense of how the past has shaped the world we live in today.
