Worship is a valued and joyful part of daily life at Poulton-le-Sands Church of England Primary School. It provides our school community with a special time to come together, reflect, celebrate and grow in faith. Through Bible stories, prayer, music and moments of stillness, our collective worship encourages children to think deeply about Christian values and how they can live them out in their everyday lives.

At school, we take part in an act of worship every day.

The themes are planned collaboratively by school and the clergy

  • Monday – Whole school worship led by Mrs Gardner
  • Tuesday – Class reflective worship through Questful RE – Living Out God’s Big Story
  • Wednesday – We go over to Morecambe Parish Church to worship with Reverend Chris
  • Thursday – Whole school singing worship/Wellbeing Worship
  • Friday – Celebration Worship led by Mr Smith

We are also proud of our Outdoor Worships. Each term, we try to go out into different places of out community and hold a service, to which parents are invited. We have held them outside the police station, Morecambe Town Hall, on the prom and in the Rectory gardens.

Spirituality

We believe that spirituality is an important part of every child’s journey, helping them reflect, grow and make sense of the world around them.

Through our spirituality tracks, children are given meaningful opportunities to wonder, question and explore big ideas in a safe and supportive environment.

Each of our classes have explored the different routes on our spirituality track in depth, using their reflections and learning to create meaningful artwork. These pieces celebrate the children’s creativity and understanding and they are now proudly displayed in our school hall for everyone to enjoy and be inspired by.

At Poulton-le-Sands CE Primary School, we have developed a “Lifeboat List” that links with our school’s Spirituality Tracks. We believe that childhood should be full of wonder, faith, adventure and memories that last a lifetime. The “Lifeboat List” is a collection of meaningful experiences and practical skills designed to help our children grow spiritually, emotionally, socially and creatively. It includes everything from learning essential life skills, such as tying shoelaces and basic first aid to moments of awe, wonder and adventure – visiting castles, playing in the rain, making music or planting and caring for something that grows.

RE

At Poulton-le-Sands C of E Primary School, we follow the Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education syllabus: Questful RE. In doing so, we are able to teach high quality Religious Education (RE), enabling all children to flourish. We hope to provide children with a education which develops their deeper understanding of Christianity as well as giving them opportunities to explore all major world faiths.
