At Poulton-le-Sands, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our pupils are very important to us. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that children’s medical needs are managed safely and sensitively during the school day.
If your child has a medical condition, allergy, or specific healthcare need, it is essential that the school is fully informed. Parents are asked to notify the School Office and complete the appropriate medical forms so that accurate records can be kept and support plans put in place where necessary. These can be found below.
Medication in School
Medication will only be administered in school when it is essential and has been prescribed by a medical professional. All medicines must be clearly labelled with the child’s name and dosage instructions and handed directly to the School Office by an adult.
Where required, individual Healthcare Plans will be created in partnership with parents and relevant healthcare professionals to ensure staff are fully aware of how to support your child.
Allergies and Medical Conditions
We take allergies and medical conditions very seriously. Staff receive appropriate training to support children with conditions such as diabetes and allergies. Please ensure the school is informed immediately of any changes to your child’s medical needs.

Accidents and Illness
If your child becomes unwell during the school day or requires medical attention, parents or carers will be contacted as soon as possible. It is therefore vital that we have up-to-date contact details at all times.
By working together, we can ensure that all children are safe, well cared for, and able to take part fully in school life. If you have any questions or concerns regarding medical arrangements, please contact the School Office for further advice and support.
