At Poulton-le-Sands, we are committed to ensuring that learning continues effectively when pupils are unable to attend school in person. Our remote education provision is designed to be accessible, engaging, and aligned as closely as possible with our in-school curriculum.

Our Approach to Remote Learning

When remote education is required, pupils will be provided with a programme of learning that reflects the curriculum they would be following in school. This may include:

  • Daily learning activities and lessons
  • A balance of online and offline tasks
  • Clear instructions and expectations for pupils and families

Teachers carefully plan remote learning to ensure progression, continuity and appropriate challenge for all pupils.

Access to Learning

We recognise that access to technology can vary. We aim to ensure that all pupils can participate in remote education by:

  • Using familiar, age-appropriate online platforms
  • Providing paper-based resources where needed
  • Offering support to families who experience technical difficulties

Communication and Feedback

Regular communication between school, pupils, and families is central to successful remote learning. During periods of remote education:

  • Teachers will set work and provide guidance on a regular basis through the online platform
  • Pupils will have opportunities to receive feedback on their work through the online platform
  • Parents and carers can contact the school with any questions or concerns

Supporting Pupils’ Wellbeing

We understand that learning from home can be challenging. Our remote education provision takes pupils’ wellbeing into account by:

  • Setting manageable workloads
  • Encouraging healthy routines
  • Providing pastoral support where required
  • School will contact home to check-in
